Park Profile: Kangaroo Valley

Holiday Haven
24 Sep 2021

It’s the stuff travel myths are made of – a secret valley, hidden from the outside world and filled with lush rolling paddocks, untouched bushland, a meandering river and at the centre of it all, a historic country town filled with charm and character. Welcome to Kangaroo Valley!

Hampden Bridge

Your Holiday Haven

Nestled between the main township and the castle-like Hampden suspension bridge, Holiday Haven Kangaroo Valley is the perfect place to unwind and escape the outside world. It’s little wonder that it is a popular spot for families, couples, wedding guests or anyone looking for an authentically Australian escape.

Accommodation includes everything from bungalow rooms through to fully self-contained deluxe cabins with BBQ verandahs. Or, if you’re bringing your shelter with you, a leafy selection of powered and unpowered sites awaits, with fire pits for that true camping experience.

Bringing your four-legged family member? Not a problem – this park is dog friendly, with sites available to suit. Other Park facilities include communal kitchen and BBQs, fire pits (during winter months), kids playground, WiFi internet, laundry and canoe/kayak hire. The river can be directly accessed from the park via steps.

The Friendly Inn Hotel

Local Attractions

There’s something to be said for simply sitting back with a good book while soaking up the idyllic valley vibes. However, venture out and you won’t be disappointed. For the energetic, a walk or bike ride on the Valley Floor loop is a great way to spend a morning, while a hike along the Three Views Trail says it all in the name! Horse riding the local trails or kayaking the quiet bends and dramatic stone slabs of Kangaroo River is also easily done, with everything provided.

Take a wander into the charming township to browse antiques and collectibles at Nostalgia Factory and Valley Vintage. You can also learn more about this area’s past with a visit to the Pioneer Museum.

Hungry? grab picnic supplies from Hampden Deli or a cheeky sweet treat from the fudge house and ice-creamery or iconic Sweet As. Time your visit right for a wander through the farmers’ markets (2nd Sunday of month) or sample local wines and cheeses – made right here in the valley.

Bird lovers will be in paradise, with dozens of species calling this secluded spot their home. Or if it’s birdies of a different kind you seek, tee off at the nearby golf club. And a day wouldn’t be complete without spending time in the garden of the Friendly Inn Hotel – celebrating 125 years young in 2022.
